https://pakisjournal.com/index.php/mestaka/article/view/896

Household waste issues, particularly organic waste, along with the suboptimal utilization of home gardens, remain significant challenges in supporting household food security in rural areas. This community service activity aimed to integrate the utilization of household waste into liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) and apply it to home-garden vegetable cultivation as an effort to support household food security and implement the zero-waste concept in Pontang Village. The activity employed a participatory approach through the collection of household waste over a 20-day period from partner households, waste segregation and weighing, processing organic waste into LOF, and applying the LOF to the cultivation of short-cycle vegetables such as water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica), spinach (Amaranthus spp.), and caisim (Brassica juncea) in home gardens. The results indicated that, quantitatively, approximately 44.58% of the total household waste generated had the potential to be processed into liquid organic fertilizer, thereby contributing to the reduction of household waste generation. However, home-garden management did not fully achieve the targeted harvest due to constraints related to seed quality, pest attacks, high rainfall, waterlogging, and limited knowledge of garden managers. Nevertheless, the successful harvest achieved in several home gardens demonstrates the potential effectiveness of LOF as an organic fertilizer when supported by appropriate cultivation practices. This activity highlights that the integration of waste management and home-garden utilization requires continuous assistance, the selection of adaptive seed varieties, and strengthening community capacity to sustainably support household food security.
Een Mardiyanti

This community service activity aims to introduce and implement Kahoot as a digital learning media to improve the learning interest of Sunday School children at HKBP Resort Dame Church. The background of this activity is the lack of variation in teaching methods, which tends to be monotonous and less engaging for children. The method used includes socialization, training, and direct practice of using Kahoot in the learning process. The results show that the use of Kahoot significantly increases students’ enthusiasm, participation, and motivation. Children become more active and interested because the learning process is packaged in an interactive and fun way. In addition, teachers gain new insights into the use of digital learning media. Thus, Kahoot can be an effective alternative learning media to support interactive and innovative teaching.
Ruth Mayasari SimanjuntakNuryosianna PutriDinda S.
Environmental problems, especially waste management, remain a major issue in the community due to low environmental awareness and limited understanding of the impacts of waste. In addition, the community’s English language skills, particularly basic environmental vocabulary, are still limited. This community service program aims to improve environmental awareness and enhance the community’s English language skills through waste education board media. The waste education boards were designed as simple and visual learning media presenting types of waste, waste decomposition time, and basic English vocabulary related to environmental topics. The program was implemented through preliminary observation, installation of the education boards, and socialization activities with the community using a communicative and participatory approach. The results indicate that the use of waste education boards increased community awareness of proper waste management and environmental cleanliness. Furthermore, community members showed improved understanding of basic English vocabulary related to environmental issues. Therefore, waste education boards can be considered an effective and sustainable medium for improving environmental awareness and basic English language skills within the community.
Nirmala Sari DaulayLucyana LucyanaFadhil Al HarsyaRepaldi Ganesa

Bullying in early childhood is a social problem that requires serious attention because it can affect children's psychological and social development. Children at this age are in the character formation stage, so it is important to instill social values from an early age. This community service activity aims to instill social values through the Stop Anti-Bullying education program at Bani Adam Kindergarten, Jakasetia Village. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with participatory education through fun activities that are appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood, such as singing, storytelling, question and answer, social behavior simulations, and coloring activities on anti-bullying-themed LKPD (Learning Worksheet). Evaluation was carried out through observations of children's participation, responses, and changes in attitudes and initial behavior during the activity. The results of the activity showed an increase in children's understanding of bullying behavior and good social behavior. Children began to show empathy, dare to apologize, help friends, and use polite language in interactions. The Stop Anti-Bullying education program has a positive impact as an effort to prevent bullying from an early age and helps create a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly learning environment.
Gunarti Retnoningrum PujiastutiSyarifah AlawiyahAulya Nur AfifahMutiara AndiniYayah NurfajriahAzizah AzahraFaridatul' Ala

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed various aspects of community life, including family literacy practices. Digital literacy has become an essential skill as it involves not only reading and writing abilities but also the capacity to access, understand, evaluate, and responsibly use digital information. In the family context, mothers play a strategic role as primary educators for children, particularly those involved in the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) organization. However, limited digital literacy skills and a lack of knowledge about children’s digital literacy platforms remain major challenges in the community. Therefore, this community service program aims to improve the digital literacy understanding and skills of PKK mothers through a Digital Literacy Program conducted in RW 04, Jakasetia Village. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 30 participants. The results indicate that the digital literacy program positively enhanced participants’ knowledge, skills, and awareness in using digital technology safely, wisely, and responsibly. Participants were also able to utilize various digital literacy platforms, such as SIBI, Literacy Cloud, and Let’s Read, to support children’s reading activities at home. This program contributes positively to strengthening family literacy and fostering a sustainable digital literacy culture within the community.
Nikmatu ZuhriyahFadiyah NadhifahCalya Sadira AnjaniSafitri SafitriTiana AmaliaZafirah Nur AmaliaFaridatul' Ala

This community service program aimed to improve English learning autonomy and digital literacy skills of 11th-grade students of SMA IT Imam Syafi’i Cendikia Pekanbaru through the use of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning applications. This issue was raised due to the low level of independence in learning English and digital literacy among Year 11 students at Imam Syafi'i Cendikia Islamic High School in Pekanbaru. The English learning process still tends to rely on teacher explanations and textbooks, so students are not accustomed to learning independently and utilising digital technology optimally. The activity was conducted through three stages: preparation, implementation, and continuous mentoring. The preparation stage involved needs analysis, interviews with English teachers, and material development based on the school curriculum. The implementation phase was carried out through digital media socialization, demonstration, and direct practice using AR applications to support vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and daily communication. A total of 30 students participated actively in the training and were guided to operate the digital learning applications independently. The final stage involved online mentoring through WhatsApp, email, and phone communication to ensure learning sustainability. This implementation proves that reality ‘enhanced’ through AR is not merely a tool, but a new ecosystem that improves the quality of language education. This technology is considered highly feasible, with a feasibility rating of 93.13% from media experts. Although this simulation is hyperrealistic, its educational impact on students' motivation, confidence, and linguistic mastery is very real.
Muhammad IlyasMiranti Eka PutriLeo Adhar EffendiReza FahleviNiken Fatricia

Songs can be used as a learning medium for multicultural Islamic education for early childhood. Learning using songs aligns with the principles of learning through play, playing while learning, and learning while singing while learning, which are certainly very enjoyable for young children. This paper examines community service in the form of technical guidance on songs as a learning medium for multicultural Islamic education for early childhood. Two methods were used in this service: lecture and question-and-answer. The technical guidance on songs as a learning medium proceeded smoothly without any obstacles. This service demonstrates the continuity of the material presented with the introduction to religion in Indonesia for early childhood. Furthermore, it is hoped that this type of community service activity will be conducted more frequently to increase knowledge that can be used in teaching early childhood.
Arif Muzayin ShofwanRaras Ayu PrawindaDessy FarantikaApriliyanti ApriliyantiFirda Roudlatul HidayahLestariningsih LestariningsihFatra Nonggala Putra

Musculoskeletal disorders are a common occupational health problem among workers in the informal sector, including those in the food processing industry. Manual work activities, such as prolonged standing, bending, and repetitive movements of the shoulders, arms, and wrists, can increase the risk of upper extremity pain. Furthermore, workers' poor understanding of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) principles and work ergonomics can exacerbate these conditions. Therefore, preventive measures are needed through an OHS education program accompanied by stretching exercises. This activity aims to reduce upper extremity pain while increasing workers' knowledge of OHS. The method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach involving 10 food processing workers aged 22–60 years. Pain levels were measured using a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), while respondents' knowledge was assessed through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed a decrease in upper extremity pain levels after the intervention, with the average pain score before the intervention ranging from 4–5 to around 3 after the intervention. Furthermore, there was an increase in respondents' knowledge of occupational health and safety (K3), as evidenced by the increase in the number of correct answers, from an average of 3–4 to around 9–10 after the education.
Dwi Santoso

This community service activity aims to analyze the effectiveness of balanced nutrition education for mothers as a strategy to prevent child malnutrition. The method employed was a literature review of five relevant and recent community service journal articles. The review process included article searching, selection based on inclusion criteria, data extraction, and descriptive-qualitative synthesis. The findings indicate that balanced nutrition education consistently improves mothers’ knowledge and awareness, enhances attitudes toward child nutrition, and promotes healthier feeding practices. Long-term impacts include improved dietary patterns and contributions to stunting prevention. Therefore, nutrition education for mothers is an effective community service strategy with the potential to generate sustainable behavioral changes in supporting child nutritional status.
Dede Irma AgustianaSepti Amalia RistyMichelle Miranda Elizabeth MatahelumualMuhammad Ilham Maul’lanaNaila Kamila AnandhitaAgnes Eka Septi
